Places That Are Great For Selling Vinyl Records
If you are looking for a place to really sink your teeth into selling vinyl records then you have several options depending upon your personal style. If you do better with face to face communications then you want to find a location where you can physically talk to your potential customers. If however, direct people skills is not your best skill then you might want to consider working with your customers over the phone. If you are looking for an online option, there are two major ideas that come to mind. The first is eBay. You can either list the albums separately, or you can create a huge lot of vinyl albums that you are interested in selling. If you are going to be selling a lot of vinyl records online then you might want to compare the fees involved in a typical sellers account with the fees involved with an eBay store. As you compare the fees, make sure you also look at the final value fees to decide how you can decrease the fees you will have to pay. Your goal is to make money for yourself, not someone else so lowering your fee costs as much as possible is always helpful.
If you are not happy with eBay, but do like the idea of selling online then you can consider purchasing a domain name and opening your own store. This would allow you to create the store of your dreams and fill it with the merchandise that you want, and reduce dramatically your fees. One of the biggest downsides to selling vinyl records this way, or any merchandise for that matter, is there is not as much tech support available in the event of a problem. While a seller on eBay can contact the eBay technical support department if a problem occurs, it is much more difficult to determine the problem if you open your own store. You do have other options as well such as selling at yard sales, or even flea markets. This would allow you to only sell on occasions, and you could work your schedule around the days you decide to sell. For flea markets, you would primarily be working on the weekends, as well as for yard sales. While not everyone wants to give up their weekends, you could also consider a yard sale on a different day. If you have decided that a yard sale or flea market is not the best option for you, then you can look to newspapers as another option. If you are interested in selling vinyl records using the newspaper then you can look to see if your local classified newspaper allows for free listings. Often local newspapers will allow free ads to be placed that will really reduce your costs associated with placing ads and selling the albums. If this still does not fit, you can always check with used bookstores in your area. Many also sell music as well and may be interested in your album collection. |
